Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG Location: Earth Event Time: 2024-08-12T07:44Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG ) Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures) Note: Clear signature of CME flux rope with smooth rotation of magnetic field components in an already elevated Bt field of 14nT-21nT, with an initial northward Bz swing followed by a smooth rotation down to around -20nT. Spike in temperature and a small drop in density, a brief spike in solar wind speed. Initially thought to be a new ICME arrival, this is likely the arrival of a flux rope of an ICME that seems to have arrived around 2024-08-11T12Z, when what is likely an interaction region or a sheath between two ICMEs is observed.
